安装和拆卸液压密封件时，为了防止液压密封件被螺纹、退刀槽等锐角划伤或其他损坏而影响其密封性能，必须采取以下几种措施。
1）在缸筒、活塞、活塞杆和导向套等端部采用15～300的光滑引入角。装配密封件时，密封件经过的零件尖角应去毛刺、倒角。如图所示为O型圈被尖角切口情况。
2）密封件经过的螺纹需防护，以防止损伤密封件的唇边。当液压密封件通过外螺纹或退刀槽时，应在相应位置上套上专用套筒，也可使外螺纹的外径或退刀槽的直径小于液压密封件的内径等。
3）当液压密封件须通过内螺纹或径向孔洞时，应使内螺纹的内径或有径向孔洞处的直径大于液压密封件的外径。
4）要求运动密封处要有良好的密封性，摩擦力要小，密封件与液压油间要有良好的相容性。为了减少液压密封件的安装及拆卸阻力，应在液压密封件须经过的相应位置上涂敷锂皂基润滑脂或液压工作油，并尽量避免液压密封件产生过大的拉伸等，以免产生塑性变形等而影响液压密封件的密封性能。
5）不允许用带有尖角的工具装配密封圈。
6）更换新密封圈时，应清除干净密封槽内的锈迹、赃物、碎片。装配前，缸筒、活塞杆和密封件应抹润滑油或润滑脂，注意选用润滑脂时，润滑脂中不能含有固体添加剂(如MoS，、ZnS等)。
